The Beauty Network was founded in San Francisco in September 1986 by Shlomit and David Heller — a husband-and-wife team with a shared vision: to bring honesty, integrity, and quality to the world of beauty. What began as a small neighborhood shop offering hair, body, and skincare products quickly grew into a trusted destination known for transparency, care, and community connection.

Shlomit, a licensed esthetician since 1991, always believed that skincare is personal. Just because something worked for your friend or became a trend doesn't mean it’s right for your skin. Through years of advanced education in skin physiology, ingredient science, and skin barrier function, she developed a deep respect for the skin’s innate intelligence — and a passion for prevention as the foundation of long-term skin health.

This journey led to the creation of her own line, Shlomit Skin Ecology, a minimalist yet powerful collection designed to support the skin’s natural function with purposeful, non-irritating ingredients. Her approach is rooted in the belief that true beauty starts with understanding your skin, not overwhelming it.

David Heller, in addition to being an integral part of the Beauty Network, has served as the long-standing President of the local Merchant Association, helping connect the neighborhood to City Hall and fostering a strong sense of community.

Together, Shlomit and David remain deeply involved in every aspect of The Beauty Network. They are a down-to-earth couple who love what they do, take pride in being present for their customers, and continue to support healthy skin — and healthy conversations — across the country.
